16WELT goes online
1995On the first day of a new WELT offering in 1995, there were 484 accesses. From 8 p.m., around 30 selected articles were made available to readers online in advance, alongside stock market data from New York and Toronto. By autumn, the service was already seeing five-digit daily user numbers – the birth of welt.de. BILD, B.Z. and Berliner Morgenpost followed one year later with their own online offerings. The publishing house had arrived as a pioneer of the digital age.
